Did you know that pre-salted nuts have starch fillers added to make the salt stick? One way to cut down in your caloric intake is to salt and roast your own. Here is my favorite almond recipe:
Salted roasted almonds
2 cups raw almonds
1 tsp salt
1tbsp warm water
Mix the salt and water in a medium sized bowl, stirring for a few minutes until salt somewhat dissolves.
Add the raw almonds and stir until evenly coated with salt water.
Spread in single layer on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 20 mins (roasting time varies depending on oven).
Allow to cool and enjoy!
